"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of children." -Fred Rogers

Welcome to The Kids First Early Learning Centre Inc.
In 2008, it was brought to a group of local moms, and moms to be, that the provincial government was willing to fund renovations of classrooms of small schools in order to increase the amount of licensed daycares in the province as well as take advantage of unused space in schools. With the thought of having quality licensed day care facility right in our community the moms took on the enormous project with the help of the local community development office. Now established and tremendous community support the centre continues to grow and learn.
Through strong partnerships formed with Parents, the Inglis School and the community, The Kids First Early Learning Centre, Inc. provides quality, affordable, accessible and healthy childcare in a secure physical, emotional and intellectual environment that respects each child's individuality and supports their physical, cognitive, social and emotional need.

Our Philosophies & Goals
The Kids First Early Learning Centre Inc. believes that all children have a right to caregivers who serve the child's best interests.
Our investment in providing early years programming that is high quality, affordable, safe, accessible and dynamic will serve to help prepare our children for their future, thereby enhancing their overall well being and that of our community.
All children need support to reduce or eliminate barriers so they can learn and fully experience what their peers are experiencing. Adaptations and strategies are specific to each child. Inclusion ensures
active, meaningful participation by every child in the center. All children will be valued, have friends and feel they belong.
Everyone benefits when all children are included. Children have a better understanding and appreciation of individual differences and gain acceptance and respect for and from others.
We respect and value input from parents and encourage them to be part of the decision making process for their child. We will support families by consulting with early intervention professionals, finding materials requested, and help by finding answers to any questions parents may have.
GOALS
1. To provide a safe, wholesome environment for the child so that parents can leave their child with assurance that he/she is cared for by staff who will offer warmth, attention, security and guidance.
2.To assist the child to achieve a strong, positive self-image; a high level of self-esteem and a feeling of acceptance.
3.To enhance each child’s growth and development; physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually by specialized programming.
4. To demonstrate a respect for the child and a belief in the need for a child’s respect of others.
5. To accept each child as an individual with individual needs.
6. To provide an opportunity to develop self-confidence, self-control, independence and creativity that is appropriate to the child’s developmental level.
7. To provide ample opportunity for free play with a wide variety of resources, free time for quiet and solitude, and sufficient opportunities for creative and self-expressive activities.
8. To provide indoor and outdoor programs that are arranged so all children can move freely and make choices based on their abilities, interests and needs.
9. To provide developmentally appropriate group experiences for all children and encourage the socialization of every child with peers
10. To provide continuing education by learning more about various disabilities and full inclusion as part of our annual training plan.
